Quantya Digital Winter Press Release

Inevitably, when you think about electric vehicles you think about small cars, hybrids, or fanciful prototypes wheeled out by the big automotive firms to please the masses at their industry’s all-important annual trade shows. But these have little to do with real world motoring, at least for the moment, and everything to do with generating column inches and positive press, useful only to those marketing directors looking to promote their company’s environmental credentials. Hence they fail to whet the appetite of those seeking a genuine, electrical alternative to the internal combustion engine.
Thankfully, though, there is a shining beacon of light on the horizon: Quantya.
Quantya’s high-performance, battery-powered motorcycles are not a fad, nor are they prototypes never likely to see the light of day. No, you’re looking at the future of commuting: a high-performance, battery-powered two-wheeler that’s available to buy, right here in the UK, right now.
With two models, both hand built in Switzerland using a British-made electric motor, Quantya’s bikes, a road-legal workhorse and a focused off-roader, are aimed squarely at a growing market of forward-thinking, eco conscious commuters and fun-loving adrenaline seekers.
Both comparable in size, weight and performance to a 125cc petrol bike, Quantya’s revolutionary machines are incredibly quick off the mark and yet easy to ride. What is more, they are virtually silent, emission free, and extremely economical to run.
The Quantya Strada is a road-going trail bike that affords city commuters a stylish and practical alternative to a petrol-powered scooter. The Quantya Track, on the other hand, is a dedicated off-road machine that’s been designed to put the broadest smile on even the most experienced dirt biker’s face.
As you would expect from a Swiss manufacturer, both the Strada and Track ooze quality and represent two well-developed, finished motorcycles that are being taken seriously within the two-wheel industry, where the appeal of no noise, no petrol, no fumes and low running costs (the Strada is exempt from both congestion charges and road fund licence) has proven very attractive.
“Quantya’s motorcycles are one of the most exciting and practical products to hit the UK sport, leisure and commuter scenes in this new, eco conscious, digital age,” said Ian Mitchell-Innes, director of Quantya UK Ltd. “Quantya bikes only have nine moving parts. There is no clutch, gears, air filters or oil, and therefore they cost almost nothing to maintain, while the battery is guaranteed to recharge 1000 times from mains electricity in under two hours, giving up to two hours ride time.”
Whilst the Strada and the Track are designed for totally different purposes, both share common components and characteristics. Beneath the gleaming white bodywork lies a 48V Lithium Polymer battery that drives an axial gap DC brushed electric motor, which will accelerate to an impressive 42mph in just 1.9 seconds. To match the motor’s performance, Quantya has equipped both models with quality suspension from Marzocchi (front forks) and Sachs (rear shock absorber), which is married to an aluminium linkage system and tubular steel frame. Tipping the scales at a mere 95 kilograms it’s easy to see how Quantya has quickly established itself as the market leader in this tough sector.
