Electric Dirt Bikes

When out demonstrating the Quantya electric dirt bikes,  or talking to people at trade shows, it is often the case that people do not see the point of having an electric dirt bike. It sounds pretty crazy but for many people the noise and smell produced by combustion engines is as much the attraction as the thrill of riding a motorbike. This is more than likely a by product of the fact you have not been able to have the option of a dirt bike without the noise and smell before.

It is our aim to show people they can have the same fun without the noise and smell. The smell is really much less of a buzz than the noise. It is essentially just fumes from the burning fuel, and is very unhealthy to breathe in. The noise one of the biggest issues off road bikes have had to contend with. The noise produced by scramble bikes carries and can typically be heard for up to 5 miles depending on the wind. There is a pretty decent chance of offending someone when the noise carries that far.

The noise is also a problem when out riding recreationally where you may meet other outdoor enthusiasts. Horses and ramblers in particular can feel intimidated by bikes.

It is important to decide what you enjoy the most. The freedom and thrill of riding a motorbike or the noise and smell associated with motorbikes. Would you not be willing to make the small sacrifice, lose the noise and smell, but gain endless amounts of riding areas. When you can say your motorbike is silent and creates zero emissions you have a lot of power behind you when it comes to protecting riding areas, and gaining new ones.

We are working hard to share this vision and belief. However we need your help. We need people to follow this movement and back us up. We want people to come and try the bike, and see what it can do. So far it has not failed to impress, and we have seen a lot of big grins. This proves to us the Quantya electric dirt bike is ready to go out and change the world.

  1. Yes, you do hear a lot of comments from riders about the noise specifically. When I went from 2 stroke to 4 stroke I missed the smell. I attached the smell to the fun I had in the past. It’s a nostalgia thing for me but I don’t necessarily want to go back.

I ride mountain bikes and dirt bikes. They are both capable of bringing my mind to a meditative state where I am not thinking of anything. When I snap out of it I feel amazing and time seemed to be irrelevant. That is the high I am after. That and fun with friends.

All this has nothing to do with noise or smell. It’s the bike and the body working together with a good dose of speed and friendship. Without the noise, I agree, many frontiers open.

The noise also intimidates a lot of new riders. If you put a Quantya and a WR250 next to each other and asked a new rider which they want to ride I bet they would choose the Quantya.

    Keep up the great work!
